Paula Downing

Paula's work is all about the land and the coast of West Cornwall. Having lived in the area for a number of years, She was able to gather information in the form of drawings, paintings and photographs and absorb the feel of the place from continually walking the land. Her pieces are made entirely by hand using ancient methods of pinch, coil and slab. She has no machines, no wheel, no moulds and a very few tools. Just like the potters of ancient times.

Her pieces are an attempt to evoke the feeling of a wild and rugged landscape and coast with hints of the mysteries and legends, which are part of its fascinating history.
