Lar Cann

Lar Cann studied at Plymouth College of Art from 1959 – 1965. He is an Executive Committee member of the Plymouth Society, a board member of the St Ives Society, Chairman 2008 - 11 and was elected to the South West Academy in 2006.

He is engaged with the impact on the South West’s landscape by the industrial extraction of granite, copper and tin and how this intervention has revealed a world of unrivalled mineral wealth. It has been a continuing source of investigation, with specific focus on the rich, saturated colour, to the point of it becoming the subject.
