.Daphne Turner is a painter and printmaker working from her studio in West Penwith, Cornwall. Since completing courses in Art and Design and Painting with the Open College of the Arts 20 years ago she has become increasingly involved with painting semi-abstract work based on the local landscape and the remains of the mining industry. Frequent attendance at the St.Ives School of Painting with encouragement and help from the tutors over the past 18 years has resulted in her development and present direction for her work. Over the more recent years collagraph printmaking has become a new medium for her after taking instruction with Peter Wray and Judy collins of Handprint Studios. Following a move to Newlyn in 2013, the harbour and sea have become additional influences. An interest in colour, texture and atmosphere guide the making of the paintings and prints.
